06-06-2007 12:47 PM "Zipper is 100% in charge of when those things get released." Is not an accurate statement. Do you know the process that it takes for us to release something? Let me explain it to you, using the current patch and map pack as an example. We build the patch and Map Pack 2. We then send the patch build along with the Map Pack to SCEA's First Party QA Group. From there, their team is test the patch, how it applies to the currently released products (SOCOM 3 and CA), and reports any issues found. This testing involves all of the multiplayer testing as well as the Single Player testing. Within that, they also test the Map Pack and how it interacts with what is released....how it's displayed in the lobbies, downloaded, saved, etc. From there, they identify bugs and send us a bug report. This bug report is imported into our bug database (along with the issues i've seen posted here and on other message boards) This process is repeated until First Party QA signs off on the patch build and Map Pack. From there, the patch build is sent to another QA Group, they are called Format QA. Format QA does all final checks on the products before they are released to the public. Some of this is redundant testing in other cases it is not, but it is essentially the last line of testing prior to the products release. After Format signs off on the patch build and the Map Pack, both items are staged for deployment on the Production Servers. At that point, a time is determined for their release by Product Development. So, how does this translate as to where we are at? We are still regressing a few bugs, but for the most part are about done. We are aiming to send First Party QA what we believe is the final build on or around this Friday. Once we get their signoff, then we're on to the next step. It's not far off now, we are soooo close. What I'm trying to say, is that there is actually a lot more that goes into the overall process then people know or choose to believe. Believe it or not, setting a date release date for a shrink wrapped product is easier than for a Patch or downloadable content. Maybe? | |

| oh fuck them it takes long. some xbox games get patches weeks after release and multiple map packs (NEW SHIT, NOT OLD SHIT) within the time it takes zipper to write a weekly update. I seriously fucking hate these slackers.
