We are happy to announce that the SOCOM Confrontation Public Beta 1.40 Patch will be released on Friday, September 26th, at 1200 GMT/UTC (8am EDT, 5am PDT, 1pm BST, 9pm JST).

The SOCOM Confrontation 1.40 patch addresses the following issues:

* Fixed an issue which was causing an abnormally large number of simultaneous kills.
* Optimized the Armory so that selecting weapons, attachments and general menu navigation are much faster.
* Fixed another issue where you could get stuck in spectator cam when late joining a game.
* Fixed an issue where occasionally late joiners would have very low framerate and crash when exiting a game.
* Fixed an issue where occasionally late joiners would have no audio.
* Statistics improvements. Statistics are now being tracked at the team level and not the player level. This will ensure stats are tracked for dropped and late joining players.
* Further improved load times for late joiners.
* Fixed several stability issues.

The following changes were made based on user feedback:

* Added new burst firing accuracy tuning when moving. You are now more accurate for the initial burst while moving but accuracy deteriorates as you continue to fire more shots.
* Scopes are now accurate.
* The select screen scoreboard is now exited by pressing the select button.
* Improved tiebreaker rules.
* New HUD animation to indicate when you are reloading.
* Crosshairs now turn grey when your magazine is empty.

We are actively looking into the following issues which are known to exist in the 1.40 patch. These issues will be fixed in a future update.

* The select screen scoreboard, round complete and game complete screens appear blank.
* Infrequently, some users loose controller functionality for a couple of seconds.

Please note, this patch also adds game logic to limit the number of people who can late join a game to 5 at a time. If more than 5 people attempt to late join the game you receive a "Game Full" error even though there are still slots in the game. This will be improved in a future update.

Also note, the network latency detection has been added back in. We believe that we have now worked out most of the issues with this. Please report in the SOCOM Confrontation PlayStation.com forums if you are seeing the "red X" disconnect icon under normal gameplay conditions.

It's good to know they are changing things based on user feedback . . . as long as it is the right users. Laughing It's also nice to know that scopes will be accurate!?! Did they do little to no tweaking and save a lot for the beta in order to look like they are on the ball by releasing a patch every week? Well at least they are fixing things but something like a scope not being accurate seems like something that would have been fixed before the prealpha-build, it's like a silencer not being silent. I thought the beta was going to be primarily to stress test the servers but apparently there is a deadline looming after already being pushed back twice. Hopefully everything will be where it should be by release and hopefully Slant6 will pay this much attention to the game after it is released. Don't get me wrong I like this game, I'm just a cynic.

Nice I hated getting stuck on the select screen and also the inaccuracy of sniper rifles, also now theres a tie breaker!! But like audio said, Tiebreaker rounds should have been in the game from the START..

I like this patches, there like 200mb each so you kno there packed with alot of shit.. just think of the shit that zipper coulda patched with S3/CA if they werent limited to 8MB

Cool make reloading faster, get rid of the bloody screen when you get shot, and do away with sprinting and make the characters normally move faster and ya got good ole Socom lol....

I couldnt careless about all that useless shit about "now its select to turn off the scoreboard" who the fuck cares about that shit. If youre that dumb that you say "I hate that screen, i always change to single shot" then if it happens that much, it should be second nature to change the fire rate back after checking that screen.

Fix the gameplay, thats all i care about

um, i dont think theres a tiebreaker round now sper. Hopefully there is the 11th round, but I think "Improved tiebreaker rules" just means that they way the pick the winning team when youre tied at the end, will be based on total kills, or something else, i dont know.

It did become second nature, unfortunately, but I guess I didn't think I was "dumb" by saying I hated when it happened. I will refrain from saying anything in here then, since you may judge it to be "dumb", 'o great and mighty Killerdragon.

IMO, the gameplay is fine. Fixing the small details like using select to go in or out of the scoreboard are the correct things to fix in these patches. If you don't like the gameplay, then your screwed, as the gameplay will not be changed between now and the release.

they told us in the patch-release statement that this was a side-effect of the new patch, and that it would be fixed in next patch which I assume will come quickly.

Move your melee attack to L3 and your run to L2.

these are KD's settings from a different post (basically precision with only a few things moved), mine is the same except for the melee attack/reload is opposite of his. I find that this controller config works great, and is the most similar to S1-CA.


R2- hold to choose weapon
L2- camera switch, hold for run
R1- fire/throw
L1- weapon quickswap
X- action
triangle- crouch, hold to prone
circle- change fire mode, hold for voice chat
square- jump
up- zoom in
down- zoom out
left- toggle nightvision
right- taunts/orders
select- scoreboard
start- pause menu
left analog- move/strafe, reload
right analog- melee attack

I think this beta is awesome, jus b/c they are changing things based on user feedback. Yea it was supposed to be for the server stress test, but obviously there are a lot of other issues caught in the beta, better now than later.
