Because Gabbert isn't that good. Out of all the quarterbacks available, the only one I'm really interested in outside of Newton is Ponder. Gailey is a quarterback guru - he can make guys like Fiedler, Fitzpatrick, Carter, Stewart, Thigpen, etc. successful in his systems, so why bother getting someone that high when you can get someone in the second who has the same physical skillset and better collegiate stats running out of a legitimate offensive scheme?

Newton will be #1 to Carolina. Miller is going to the Broncos at #2. The Bills will be drafting... Tyron Smith, offensive tackle from USC. That line is in shambles and since they drafted Spiller at 9 last year they need someone to block for him and fast Freddie Jackson. The Eagles will be drafting a D Lineman, lock it up.

Smith is not going to be the pick unless they move back. He's not worth #3, not even remotely. If you're taking a tackle with a top five pick, it's someone that will be able to start right away at LT and I just don't see it. Outside of the Minnesota game last year, Demetrius Bell was quietly phenomenal, and the interior with Levitre, Hangartner, and Wood is solid. We need a right tackle and we can get one later on easily. It'll be Newton, Dareus, or Peterson - or a trade back, which they've been talking with other teams about for weeks.

I think, barring any trades, it goes Newton, Miller, Dareus, Green, Peterson to start things off tonight. Wouldn't be surprised at all to see Denver and Buffalo both trade back, though.
